Overview
Every two years, the Asian Congress of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ACOMS) brings the region's postgraduate trainees, young surgeons, and senior faculty onto one stage — to learn from each other, present their research, and shape the next chapter of the specialty in Asia. In 2027, that stage comes to Kathmandu.
The 7th ACOMS PG Trainee Congress 2027 is proudly hosted by the Nepalese Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (NAOMS), in association with the Asian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS-Asia). It marks the first time this flagship trainee congress arrives in Nepal — a milestone moment for the country's OMFS community and an open invitation to the wider Asian fraternity to discover Kathmandu's academic hospitality alongside its Himalayan backdrop.
Why This Congress Matters
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery sits at a demanding crossroads of medicine, dentistry, and surgery — trauma, tumours, deformities, jaw disorders, and reconstructive care of the face all fall within its scope. Trainees entering this specialty need more than textbooks; they need exposure to real cases, real mentors, and real peers who are wrestling with the same questions across different health systems.
ACOMS exists to close that gap. It is built, first and foremost, around the trainee — giving residents and young consultants a genuine platform to present original research, defend it in front of regional experts, and walk away with sharper clinical judgment and a wider professional network.
What the Congress Offers
- Keynote and guest lectures from internationally recognised OMFS faculty across Asia and beyond.
- Free paper and poster presentations by postgraduate trainees, adjudicated by senior faculty.
- Case-based and panel discussions on trauma, pathology, orthognathic surgery, craniofacial deformities, and emerging techniques.
- Hands-on and interactive sessions designed specifically for residents-in-training.
- Trade and industry exhibits, connecting trainees and practising surgeons with the latest instruments, technologies, and materials in the field.
- Structured networking — the kind of corridor conversations and mentor introductions that shape careers long after the congress ends.

Kathmandu as Host
Beyond the scientific sessions, delegates will experience Kathmandu's UNESCO World Heritage sites, its warm academic community, and Nepal's long-standing tradition of hospitality — making ACOMS 2027 as much a cultural exchange as an academic one.
NAOMS, as host association, sees this Congress as an opportunity to showcase Nepal's growing surgical capability while learning from the best practices of its ACOMS partner nations.
Join us in Kathmandu as we bring together the finest minds in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery to inspire, educate, and empower the next generation of the specialty.
